Di Weissberg - Textile Artist

Having gained a degree in Textile Design at Gloucestershire College of Art and Design, I spent my early years designing and selling silk clothes and accessories in a variety of craft outlets throughout the country including Covent Garden Jubilee Market. Later I travelled to South East Asia and inspired by the fantastic batik cloth available, produced a range of children’s clothing. I balanced these creative ventures with teaching in both adult and mainstream education.  I am currently Head of Art at a local secondary school.

I produce hand-made, funky up-cycled clothing, accessories and soft furnishings, in natural fabrics including cotton, denim, linen and wool. Using screen printing and recycled fabrics, I create colourful and creative designs, layering images and taking inspiration from nature and my regular visits to Cornwall. My prints are created from original drawings or photographs which are transferred to screens using photosensitive emulsion. This allows me to use my images repeatedly, changing colours and arrangements individually on each piece I make.

I can work to order, creating bespoke colour and design combinations and make some garments in different sizes.
